Spidy -EEK!

I was having my morning coffee and reading the newspaper on the patio this morning when I saw this little beauty out of the corner of my eye.

I am  believer in insect spray in MY domain....not sure if this one died from the really good insect spray or I simply drowned it!

Larry's Big Toy

How about this?  Lots of hard work - but no injuries to unload and assemble this little puppy in the RV Barn!

Good thing he is finished because we are having a change in the weather - increased humidity!

More July!

Settling in...really loving this dry heat!

The bugs are different...haven't a clue what this is, but I'm glad he just stopped by for a drink and flew off!

Had a little rain...took photos of the puddles for future fixing!

Can't live in the land of pickups without having one (again).  Larry made an excellent choice!

And the sewing room is coming together!  I picked up an 8 ft. x 35 inch table today to go with the furniture I ordered.  We had to take the top off of the table to get it into the house and the sewing room!  I'll need some shelving or cabinets for the upper walls and some shelving in the closets too.  Now I just need to organize everything.
This photo is of the table base - sans top!  Look at all the storage space I have on the shelf underneath!  The grand plan is to have enough storage so that I don't have to move anything to get to something else!

Isn't that the coolest lime green chair?

July Doings

We have been in Pahrump for almost a month....learning to adapt to high daylight temperatures.  The house has great A/C - and is well insulated so the A/C doesn't run all the time.

The patio now has furniture....and a misting system.  Next step will be the overhead fans to help distribute the mist.

Ray & Charlotte's apple trees are nearing harvest...with great benefits.  Here is an lovely (and tasty) apple pie made by Charlotte:

With a gift of several pounds of Golden Delicious apples I made this tart today.  A little different for me because it doesn't have that lovely sweet cream filling.  This one has applesauce made from the fresh apples:

We were gifted with a visit from Steve & Jo over the July 4th weekend..a very pleasant surprise.  Can't wait for them to return when we have more time to explore.
Steve - icing his hand (that turned out only to be sprained) that looked like it was very painful and Shadow at his feet.
Ray and Jo.  Ray was the head BBQ chef for those lovely steaks.
 Charlotte enjoying the standing mister.

How is this for decadence? Lovely rib-eyes!

The house and garages are coming together.  A few more pieces of furniture for my craft room and I will be ready to start sewing again.

Engaged!

On June 11th we attended a Giants game in San Francisco.  At the game our son, Daren, proposed to his lovely girl friend, Kristie.  (Not that you would know it from the text on the jumbo-tron!)

Daren invited 14 friends and family to the game to see this momentous event.  Too bad some family members chose to miss all the fun! Their loss.

Found a house...

Of course, the house we ended up buying was not among the houses I mentioned earlier!

It became 'our house' on June 6th....at least it will be easy to remember-- (D-Day!

We loaded up the motor home and trailer and stayed with our friends Ray & Charlotte prior to actually getting into the house.

The seller very kindly left a Pyrex bowl.  I had commented on the bowl when we first went to see the house.  It is one of a four bowl 'nesting' bowl set that we had received as a wedding gift.  I was missing that particular bowl because of a little mishap more than 30 years ago. The seller sold us the bed, table, chairs and other items that had been in the house for 'staging'.  (So I didn't bitch about the dirty floors, microwave, oven, refrigerator etc.)

Our realtor, Alejandra Ink (with Access Realty) was awesome.  She knows how to communicate, she is pleasant to work with and tireless in her efforts for US to find the right house. Much of the 'work' of closing was accomplished from 700 miles away.  Thanks to Alejandra we were kept up-to-date on everything.

The same can't be said for the seller's agent, Roni Ragan.  I won't mention the broker here - not their fault she is a semi-worthless human.  First of all we did not need to have any contact with the seller's agent.  Second of all, she is an emotional twit. Third of all, she was dressed like an escapee from Walmart shopping photos! Someone should have told this woman to get a grip years ago.  She yelled at Larry and our friend as she got out of her car.  She did say something nice....as in, "I've never met anyone like you".  Wasn't that sweet?  This altercation occurred 10 minutes before the house documents were recorded. ( And this happened because the guys had parked in the back yard awaiting the notification of the recorded document.)  Then she had the audacity to tell our realtor 'your buyer was rude to me'.  Hello?  We had a witness to her behavior.

Thankfully all else went well.  Everyone we contacted about utilities was professional and friendly.

With the help of Ray & Charlotte everything was unloaded and put away before we had to return to K'ville.  Also thanks to Ray & Charlotte the house is being checked on while we take care of a little business here.

We had decided not to take much with us....but it still seems like we have way too much to take!

Second load heads south on Sunday.  Hoping for a month or so in our new home before heading back for (hopefully) the last load.

House Hunting in Pahrump

We have been looking at houses for a week now....and here are some of the options and our comments:

200 E Kiowa St., - If a person could disinfect the whole house, repaint the interior, replace all the appliances (filthy) and replace the carpets this would be very nice.

803 W Jarvis Rd. - Dirty, nice layout, no fence.  Needs a TALL fence to block view of slobs next door.

3681 S Pahrump Valley Blvd. - Horses next door, no fencing, busy street, roof leak on patio and worms...do worms grow in new berber carpet?

3141 S Torrey Pines Ave., - Very nice, just too small.  A real charmer.

2161 S Tiawah Ave., IS subject to drainage from mountain rains.

890 E Derby St., UNIQUE party house.  Gotta see to believe.  Will probably go for $50k because it is so unique.  Comes with free firewood.

1220 E Gamebird Rd., - BOXY, dirty, lots of cactus and seemed like the ceilings were too low.  Way too much stuff in the house to really appreciate the size.

1641 W Amarillo - Owner is dreaming.

2681 S Tecumseh Ave. - Needs lots of work. Total new kitchen, doors, moldings, baseboards, toilets, bathroom vanities.

2861 S. Homestead Rd. - Yucky.

3571 S Soplo Ave., - Foundation cracked.

1730 S Tiptop Trail - This needs a total rebuild.

5580 N. Genoa Ave. - Very nice. Well maintained. Only 2 car garage.

5091 E. Wheatland Dr. - Not finished. Two story. No fence.

5231 E. Graystone Dr. - The one that got away - gorgeous house.

3170 S Tahachapi Ave - Gravel road

2921 E Banyon St. - Crack in wall where wall was changed from garage into room.

1721 S Court St. - No landscaping. Not flat.  In a flood plain.

3441 E Winery Rd. - Ugh. No way.  Neighbor has drive through to access their own parking at rear of house.  No garage.

4460 E Ashley Ave. - Double yuck

2731 E Fountain Ave. - Only 2 car garage. Small yard.

2560 S Olvido Ave. - Gravel Road, no fence.

1201 W Geofrey St. - North of town, at base of mountain

540 E. Kenny AVE., - 1 1/2 BLOCKS of gravel road.

3861 S Newcomb Ave. - Short sale.  Large yard, great fencing and gate.

2130 S. Manzanita Dr. - Deep, narrow lot without RV access.

680 E Mt. Charleston Dr. - Busy intersection, no yard.

6731 S Longmeadow Dr. - Recent foreclosure

3700 Navajo Bld. - Yuck.  Hill billy country.

3551 S Unicorn Ave. - Nice. Needs new carpet and cleaned up. Needs exterior painting on trim.
